Operations focused on the integration and filtering of concepts and propositions from various concept maps are presented as a Concept Maps Query Language (CMQL), representing a novel approach to automatically obtain knowledge from a concept map repository. Additionally, the mapping between concept maps and ontologies is described as a formal transformation method, which semantically analyzes the relationships among concepts in the map. A context in which CMQL can be useful is as support in the construction of the concept map (conceptualization) to be formalized in a preliminary ontology.
