Abstract

This study investigates the effect of concept mapping on EFL students’ meaningful learning of English reading comprehension. 61 high school female students were randomly assigned to experimental and control group in Karaj and their academic achievement by quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test was studied. The research instrument was a teacher- made academic achievement test, in which the high levels of cognitive questions (analysis, synthesis, and evaluation) were used to evaluate the meaningful learning of English reading comprehension. The data were analyzed with t test, and the results showed that concept mapping strategy has a positive effect on English academic achievement and meaningful reading comprehension in students.
